DEPARTMENT INFORMATION //
The Big Walnut Local Schools provides a variety of technology tools to support student learning. Our robust fiber optic infrastructure provides efficient district operation in a safe learning environment. The Technology Department sports a dedicated team of experience in networking, systems, software applications and curricular integration.
DEPARTMENT RESPOSIBILITY //
The district computer network supports a variety of services including:
High and Middle School computer labs provide students access to information processing tools and curriculum specific software in a filtered environment.
The Elementaries and Middle School are each provided with 2 mobile laptop labs with wireless access. Wireless access is available in specific areas throughout the district.
Classrooms of students in grades K-5 are provided with desktop computers where students can access and assess information wisely.
SMARTboards/Navigators are implemented throughout the district promoting interactive lessons for learning.
The Middle School Library provides students and teachers with a state-of-the-art dual boot (Mac OS and Windows XP) computer systems.
Limited Help Desk support for student demographics, scheduling, and records provided from Esis (student software).
The Technology Department houses a robust email system, 300 node PBX phone system with IP phone capabilities, various systems for infrastructure, curricular and Special Needs services.
Content filtering is available on all district computers and is monitored closely.
