Big Walnut Treasurer Heads to COTA

Big Walnut Treasurer, Terri Eyerman, will be moving on from public school finance to work with the Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) as its Director of Finance. The move was officially announced at the Board’s June 28 meeting. Her resignation is effective July 7, 2017.

“On behalf of Big Walnut, I would like to thank Terri for her dedication and service to our schools and the larger community,” said Andrew Wecker, Board President. “Compared to many other school districts, Big Walnut delivers a great value to students and taxpayers. I like to think we are lean and frugal.”

“While I am sorry to see Terri recruited away from us, I’m happy for what should be a good move for her professionally and personally,” Wecker said. “The diligence and experience of the remaining treasurer’s staff will help see the district through this transition.”

Eyerman served as treasurer at Big Walnut for three years. She helped usher the District through some of its recent struggles with enrollment growth and established and improved relationships with Big Walnut township and village officials.

“On the basis of referrals, we have decided to work with K-12 Business Consulting, Inc. to assist us in securing an interim treasurer and to conduct the search for our permanent treasurer,” Wecker said. “K-12 is owned, led and staffed by experienced school treasurers and superintendents. Our goal is to have a permanent treasurer identified no later than September.

“These things are always bittersweet; however, if there is one position that could pull me away from Big Walnut then this was it,” said Eyerman. “I will definitely miss the Big Walnut community but will always cheer for it from the sidelines. We have great leadership here and I know great things are ahead for the District.”
